Maja Stanković (Belgrade, 1975) completed her PhD in art history at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy, at the Department of Modern Art (2013). She is a professor at the Faculty of Media and Communications, Singidunum University, at the Department of Digital Arts. Since 2022 she is a dean of the Faculty of Media and Communications. Since 2004, she has authored numerous texts published in scientific journals, as well as solo and group exhibition catalogues and co-authored the collection of papers on contemporary art Images/Singular/Global (2013) and the collection on video art Image/Motion/Transformation (2013). Maja Stanković is also one of the initiators of the first electronic magazine for contemporary art http://www.dipassage.org (2002-2008), one of the initiators of the student electronic magazine on contemporary art and culture Propeller (2010-2019). She is also co-editor of the web platform on contemporary art and theory https://www.studije-savremenosti.org (from 2017-). Her field of interest includes contemporary art, theory and digital humanities. She has published a book Liquid Context. Contextual Practices in Contemporary Art (2015) and Networked Image (2022). Since 2008, she has been a member of the international association of art critics AICA (International Association of Art Critics). She is the winner of the “Lazar Trifunović” award, the highest domestic recognition in the field of history and criticism in contemporary art, for the year 2018. She curated the following exhibition independently and in cooperation: Virtual Weaving, SULUJ Gallery, Belgrade (2003); Relink, Belgrade Cultural Centre, Belgrade (2005); Introspection, Student City Students’ Cultural Center, Belgrade (2015); Archive strategies: Time Policies, Gender Performance Together, FMK, House of Culture, Belgrade (2015); Out of focus, out of taste, Students’ City Cultural Center, Belgrade (2016); From/To Enjoyment, Belgrade Cultural Center, Belgrade (2023).
